WPL 2023 Mumbai Indians Women continue their resilience! Still the only team with a 100% win record!

Mumbai Indians Women are now looking like serious contenders for the inaugural Women’s Premier League season. Today at the Brabourne Stadium, Harmanpreet Kaur’s Mumbai Indians Women defeated Alyssa Healy’s UP Warriorz by 8 wickets to maintain a 100% win percentage in the WPL 2023.

No other team than MI Women have been this dominant. The team is fearless, powerful and absolutely dominating. One will not be able to find superlatives to describe how good they have been in the first ever edition of the Women’s Premier League.

In terms of batting and bowling, Harmanpreet Kaur’s side have taken care of each and every department extremely well and they are very much in contention to not just reach the inaugural final but also end up lifting the coveted trophy. When they took on UP Warriorz tonight, Alyssa Healy won the toss and elected to bat first.

Healy being the captain led from the front and gave UP Warriorz a good start with her bat but her partner Devika Vaidya was in dressing room for just 6 runs. 1st down Kiran Navgire also disappointed and was out for 17 but Tahlia McGrath, who came in at number 4 built a good partnership with Alyssa Healy.

While Tahlia smacked 50 off 37, Alyssa Healy scored 58 off 46. But after their departure, UP Warriorz’s lower order could not carry the momentum forward and were restricted for 159 with Saika Ishaque picking 3 wickets, Amelia Kerr getting and Hayley Matthews notched a single scalp.

In response, Mumbai Indians Women finished of the game as quickly as in the 17th over. Hayley Matthews and Yastika Bhatia gave MI Women a good start as usual with scores of 12 and 42 at the time of getting out. Then Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt navigated MI through their 4th win of the inaugural season.

Harmanpreet Kaur played a Captain’s inning smashing 53 off 33 while Nat Sciver scored 45 off 31.
