Women’s U-19 T20I World Cup: Can Shafali Verma lead her team to the finals of the first ever Women’s U-19 T20I World Cup?

All of the Indian women’s cricket players are in South Africa right now where the Under-19 women’s team is playing the Under-19 T20I World Cup which is being held for the first time ever whereas the senior women’s team is playing the T20I tri-series and will play the T20I World Cup after the conclusion of the tri-series.

Both of them have been successful on their tour to the African nation till now as the senior team has won both the matches they have played in the tri-series till now and the junior women’s team is now in the semi-finals of the Under-19 T20I World Cup.

The Under-19 team led by Shafali Verma has reached the semi-finals of the World Cup and has played exceptional cricket and dominated most of the teams. They have lost just one match against Australia and have won the rest.

Shweta Sehrawat has been the find of the tournament for the Indian team as she has been phenomenal in the tournament. She has scored 231 runs in just 5 innings and has an impeccable average of 115.50. Shafali Verma has led the team from front and has shown maturity in his captaincy as well as batting.

Mannat Kashyap has been the top bowler for the Indian women’s under-19 team by taking 7 wickets in 4 innings bowling a total of just 13 overs. Richa Ghosh who has been with the senior women’s team for a long time now has also shown her experience in the world cup.

Team India will be facing New Zealand Women U-19 team in the semi-final match on Friday. The match will be played in Potchefstroom from 1:30 pm IST on 27th January 2023.

Indian women’s under-19 team would look forward to dominate this match and face either of England or Australia under-19 women’s team in the final of the tournament on Sunday and mark the beginning of something special for women’s cricket in India.
