With the victory in final ODI, India clinched the 3 match series by 3-0 and made a clean sweap.

By winning this match India took it’s 23 years old revenge by the Sri lankan’s. As in In 2000, during the Coca-Cola Champions Trophy in Sharjah, the Indian team was all out for 54 runs against Sri Lanka. Batting first in the final match on 29 October 2000, Sri Lanka scored 299 runs for 5 wickets. Sanath Jayasuriya played a stormy inning of 189 runs while batting aggressively.

Chasing the target of 300 runs in that match, the Indian team could not overcome the balls of Chaminda Vaas and Muralitharan. Vaas took 5 and Muralitharan took 3 wickets. If Robin Singh is left out then none of the Indian batsmen reached double digits. Robin Singh was the highest scorer by scoring 11 runs. India was all out for just 54 runs in the match.

Now after 23 years, the Indian team has repaid the old revenge from Sri Lanka. In the match played in Thiruvananthapuram on January 15, Team India scored 390 runs while batting first. For India, Virat Kohli played an unbeaten inning of 166 runs. At the same time, Shubman Gill got out after scoring 116 runs. Chasing 391 runs for victory, the Sri Lankan team was bundled out for just 73 runs. The bowling of Mohammad Siraj overshadowed the visiting team. He took 4 wickets of Sri Lanka while bowling dangerously. The visiting team got all out after scoring 73 runs in 22 overs. In this way, after about 23 years, India settled its old score with Sri Lanka.
