Virat Kohli makes appearance in PKL, chose these cricketers to be part of the kabaddi team

Pro Kabaddi Season 7 started on 20th July and after a week full of high octane kabaddi, action moved to the financial capital. Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli was the special guest for the start of the Mumbai leg of Pro Kabaddi 2019.  Virat sang the National Anthem with the teams and was in attendance for the first game between home side U Mumba and Puneri Paltan.

Virat interacted with the crowd and the hosts of the Pro Kabaddi show, answering some interesting questions, where he even made a Pro Kabaddi team featuring Indian cricket team players.

What all did Virat tell?

Ahead of the game, Virat was shown some videos of top action from Pro Kabaddi, and was asked some interesting questions around it. While answering, Virat picked Indian cricketers who could fit into PKL. Virat then also talked about his favourite Pro Kabaddi players and what about them impressed him the most. Virat was awestruck by the videos and also vocal about how the sport was among the most challenging and demanding.

Which Indian cricketers he choose?

While Virat chose Hardik Pandya to do the Pawan Sehrawat frog jump, he picked MS Dhoni to complete the toe touch. For a back hold, he wanted to choose Dhoni, given the strength it requires, but given he had already picked Dhoni for another move, he went for Umesh Yadav.

Additionally, Kohli mentioned he was flabbergasted by the game and the skill it involves, and also the strength and athleticism required. He also told that if given an option, he would love to be a raider.

Virat picked “Raid Machine” Rahul Chaudhari and “Iceman” Ajay Thakur as his favourite players from the league. He even mentioned that the duo, who plays for Tamil Thalaivas, reminds him of him and MS Dhoni.  Kohli seemed to be most impressed by Rahul’s humbleness and consistency.

Talking more about the game, Virat Kohli mentioned that do-or-die raids are his favourite part of the game as it brings unparalleled excitement. He also mentioned that kabaddi has always been among his favourite sports as it requires a lot of mental and physical toughness.

While U Mumba won the Maharashtra Derby 33-23, Jaipur Pink Panthers came from down to win against Bengal Warriors in the last gasp 27-25.

Fazel Atrachali, Surender Singh and Abhishek Singh were the stars of the show for U Mumba, while it was captain Deepak Niwas Hooda and defender Sandeep Kumar Dhull, who scripted the Panthers’ victory.

Results
