Virat Kohli has shown more faith on fast bowlers than MS Dhoni, says Ajit Agarkar

Virat-Kohli

Former Indian fast bowler, Ajit Agarkar recently talked about the difference in captaincy styles of MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. Agarkar opined that MS Dhoni used to depend a lot on spinners, while Virat Kohli has shown more faith in the faster bowlers.

The major difference I see is that MS Dhoni used to depend a lot on the spin bowlers to make his strategies. Virat Kohli, in a slight deviation, has shown more faith in fast bowlers,” Agarkar said.

Agarkar believes that Virat’s faith in the fast bowlers has helped them win matches overseas. Under Virat Kohli, Indian won their first-ever Test series in Australia.

Because of that when India plays overseas Test matches, it has made a lot of difference to the results. The performance has been better and we have been able to compete more. Probably this was a stark difference because both had a different way of leading, but both got a lot of success,” he further said.

Virat Kohli has been a captain for such a long time in all formats and we can see how good the results have been. The methods might be different but if you show faith in your players, then you get good results as a captain,” Agarkar added.

Both MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli have been two great captains of the modern-day cricket. Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, India managed to win all the ICC titles. Virat Kohli led India to number one position in Test cricket. Though, he is yet to win an ICC title.
