2 of India’s ace Batters – Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are among the 100 most powerful Indians according to Indian news outlet, the Indian Express. The annual list is spearheaded by none other than India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Virat & Rohit the only 2 Cricketers to be present on this list.
The annual list goes by the name of IE 100 most powerful Indians and is presented by Indian Express. Although, the Top 10 is dominated by Politicians/Ministers and Businessmen, Kohli and Sharma will be honored to be named alongside them.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah is also among the 100 most powerful Indians in 2023. Shah is also the president of the apex cricketing body in Asia – the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the 34-year-old made a lot of influential moves last year. The on-going saga between India and Pakistan about not playing at each other’s soil was ignited by Jay Shah only.
When it was announced that the next edition of the Asia Cup will take place at Pakistan, Shah said that the Indian team won’t be allowed to travel to Pakistan and finding a neutral venue is the only way India will participate. PCB Chief Najam Sethi on the other hand retaliated by saying that Pakistan will also not travel to India for the World cup this year and talks of Bangladesh hosting Pak matches have already begun.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma had a decent start to 2023 as both the batters scored Centuries and influenced a game’s result through their performances. Kohli made a great comeback in September 2022 when he broke his century drought against Afghanistan during Asia Cup T20 last year.
Later on in December 2022, Kohli smacked his first ODI ton since August 2019 and followed up by another 2 Full centuries in the next 3 One Dayers against Sri-Lanka and New Zealand. The 34-year-old also broke his Test century drought in the 4th Test of the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 which India won by 2-1.
Kohli’s successor and team India captain Rohit Sharma enjoyed a little bit of success last year. He led the Indian team to the ICC T20 World cup 2022 Semi-final and had a great start to 2023 as he smacked an ODI Ton against New Zealand and then against Australia in BGT 2023.
Later on in June 2023, Rohit Sharma has a golden opportunity to become the first Captain since MS Dhoni to deliver a major ICC trophy since 2013 if India beats Australia in the World Test championship final.
