Twitterati slams Virat Kohli after yet another failure in New Zealand
It has been a shocking outing so far with the bat for the Indian captain Virat Kohli in the New Zealand tour and it got worse after he departed for 19 in the second innings, when India needed him desperately to lead from the front. The visitors started the day on a positive note and the pace bowling trio knocked out New Zealand for 348 runs, but with a lead of 183 runs.
India started off their second innings with Prithvi Shaw departing early yet again. Cheteshwar Pujara and Mayank Agarwal repaired the early damaged and built a strong partnership of 51 runs before Pujara was tamed by a inswinger, which knocked down his off-stump.
The stage was set for the Indian captain to bring his side back into the game. But, disappointment struck the Indian camp, when he was dismissed cheaply for the second time in this match. Kohli has not been in the pink of his form in international cricket, in the last couple of months with the bat and it was evident in the way he was dismissed.

Trent Boult bowled a bouncer and Kohli wanted to play a pull shot, but to everyone’s surprise, he missed the shot and nicked the ball to get departed for only 19 runs. It has been a nightmare tour so far for the Indian captain despite his team’s big success in the T20I series. He has failed to cross the 100 run mark in his last 10 international innings and it turns into a big concern when the number one batsman in the world falls into that position.
Kohli only managed to score one fifty in this tour, which came in the first ODI of the three-match series. He has a total of 201 runs in 9 innings in this tour.
Here’s how Twitter responded to Kohli’s bad patch in New Zealand:
Virat Kohli on this NZ tour:
T20Is – 45, 11, 38, 11
ODIs – 51, 15, 9
Tests – 2, 19201 runs in 9 inns, one fifty. #NZvInd

Kohli going though a really bad patch
Is this starting of decline of greatest batsman of this generation?
I think so #INDvNZ— Biplab (@CricaddictBipu) February 23, 2020
Like Sachin, Kohli too would go down as the greatest ODI batsman. Test is where they would be labelled as ‘Just good enough’ perhaps.. Smith is waayy ahead of Kohli is test matches.. #INDvsNZTestCricket #ViratKohli #SachinTendulkar
