Among those few teams, Paris St Germain stands tall. They are always touted to win major things in the French Ligue 1 and to make big strides in the European nights. However, the strides in European nights are yet to come.

For the Parc des Princess based outfit, it has become a certainty to win the top-tier title. Until they lost to Rennes in the French Cup final, it was believed that they take everything home. However, Les Parisiens ended up their season with the League and one domestic trophy.

They successfully eliminated  Juventus and Real Madrid to register a place in UEFA Champions League semifinals and in the hearts of people.

In the Dutch league, Erik ten Haag’s men locked their horns with PSV Eindhoven for the title but held their nerves and place to seal the title. The team so brilliant and energetic in the attack that they scored 119 goals in Eredivisie. Also, they won did the domestic double after years when they won the KNVB Cup final on 5th May.

Lionel Messi and co defeated the Red Devils in the quarter-finals of Champions League to face Liverpool in the semifinals. Even though Catalans had a 3-0 advantage in the first leg of the semifinals, quick goals and crazy individual performances at Anfield by the Reds dented the hopes of Barcelona to get the hands of European title at Madrid.

In La-Liga, there came a time where Barcelona had to play eight games in a month. The Argentine led the team by example where they won six games and the other two ended in a draw. Liverpool didn’t lose many games in the Premier League but ended up being the second-best in the standings as they bottled the points in the second half of the tournament.

However, Liverpool showed their “A” game when it was required in the Champions League. Even though they went down by a scoreline of 3-0 in the first leg of semifinals at Camp Nou against Barcelona, they didn’t lose the hope. As there is a famous saying that “fortune favors the bold”, Liverpool went to the second leg with brimming optimism to win the game. After each goal scored, they came near to seal the spot in the finals of the Champions League. WHn Origi scored the 4th goal against Barcelona, it triggered the wild celebrations at Anfield. And rest is history today. Currently, Liverpool are the European Champions.

Even though they didn’t get the success in 2018/19 in English top tier, they lead by 16 points in the ongoing season. Can Liverpool finally win the Premier League and end the drought?

Also, Manchester City won the FA Cup finals against Watford by a big margin of 6-0 apart from winning the Carabao Cup, completing the domestic treble. Pep Guardiola became the first manager to win the domestic treble in the English top flight.

Manchester City once again failed to make any inroads in the European nights as they were defeated by Tottenham Hotspurs in the quarterfinals. After a poor performance in the current day PL, it is believed that Pep will move out of Premier League. Can he find European success this year?
