The champion of the inaugural edition of the Caribbean Premier League, Jamaica Tallawahs is one of the most successful franchises in CPL history. The franchise has retained the Universal Boss Gayle and T20 Talisman Russell. Except for the last edition, Jamaica is the side who has qualified in the playoffs each season. Jamaica’s last CPL triumph came in 2016 where they registered 9-wickets victory against Guyana. #1 Chris Gayle (2013-2019)

The big show has accumulated 1695 runs from 53 appearances including four hundred and 8 half-centuries. He has the record of scoring most runs, most centuries, most half-centuries, most fours and most sixes for Jamaica.

Chris Gayle is the first batsman to hit more than 100 sixes in CPL for a single franchise (125). Gayle was in his prime touch in 2015, scoring 430 runs in 10 innings at an average of 61.42. In 2017, he hit 37 sixes in the edition to break his own record of most sixes in a single season. Gayle has crossed 400 runs in a single CPL season twice for Jamaica. In 2016, he scored 425 runs including a century to help Tallawahs to win the CPL title.

#2 Glenn Phillips (2017-2019)

Best Players of Jamaica Tallawahs: Glenn Phillips joined Jamaica Tallawahs in 2017 and in three years, he proved his selection by showing top batting skills. The wicket-keeper batsman has scored 1007 runs in 28 innings at an average of 35.96 including a hundred and 7 half-centuries.

In 2018, Phillips amassed 457 runs in 11 innings (most by a Jamaica player in a single edition). He continued his top form in 2019 as well, scoring 374 runs in 10 innings at an average of 37.40 His best knock was recorded against Patriots in 2018, smashing 103 off 63 balls. Phillips is quickest to cross 1000 runs for a franchise in CPL.

#3 Andre Russell (2013-2019)

The T20 superstar Russell is going to play his last CPL season in 2020 and he has been the prime figure for Jamaica franchise. Russell has contributed with both bat and ball. He is the leading wicket-taker for Jamaica with 55 wickets at an average of 24.32. Russell has played the most number of matches (57) for Tallawahs and he smashed the highest individual score for Jamaica in 2018.

Andre Russell knock of 121 is one of the best knocks in CPL history. He hit 13 huge sixes in this blistering knock which is a CPL record of most sixes by a player in a single inning, breaking Gayle’s record of 11 sixes. Russell accumulated 1109 runs at an average of 30.80 including two centuries. His first century came in 2016 against Trinidad off 43 balls. In 2018, the franchise announced him the captain of Jamaica.

#4 Kumar Sangakkara (2013-2017)

Best Players of Jamaica Tallawahs: The former Sri Lankan captain has been pivotal for Tallawahs from 2013 to 2017 and he was the CPL winner two times in his 4-years of CPL career. Kumar Sangakkara amassed 739 runs across 26 innings at an average of 33.59 including 7 half-centuries.

Sanga has performed high when Jamaica needed him most. His best form was in his final season (2017), scoring 374 runs from 11 innings at an average of 42.11. In 2016’s CPL triumph, Sanga contributed 297 runs. His best knock came against Stars in 2017, smashing unbeaten 74 from 45 balls.

#5 Oshane Thomas

Oshane Thomas has excelled with the ball with the new ball for Tallawahs. He has provided the strength in death-overs to produce victories for the franchise. Thomas made his debut for Jamaica in 2016 and become the CPL winner by beating Guyana in the final.

He picked up 32 wickets from 20 matches at an average of 21.90. In 2018, Thomas was the leading wicket-taker for his side, calming 18 wickets in 10 matches. In the previous season, he appeared in 6 matches and picked up 9 wickets.
