5. 2/16 vs Delhi Capitals

In the run chase, Capitals lost Aaron Finch early. Ishant Sharma then joined the party and got the wicket of the then youngster Naman Ojha. In his very next over, he picked up another wicket in the form of veteran Venugopal Rao. He also maintained an astonishing economy rate of just 4 runs per over. 4. 2/15 vs Mumbai Indians

2. 3/27 vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

Some of Sharma’s best performances in IPL came in the Sunrisers Hyderabad kit. Hence, we go back again to the 2013 season. Royal Challengers Bangalore were in the receiving end of Sharma’s brilliance once again, as his spell restricted Virat Kohli’s team of just 130.

Sharma was on the money from the start and got the wicket of opener Tillakaratne Dilshan in the fourth over. Hyderabad was always on the driver’s seat, but a partnership between Moises Henriques and Virat Kohli brought RCB back into the mix. Sharma broke the partnership by dismissing the Aussie, and then got the wicket of tail-ender Ranganath Vinay Kumar.

1. 5/12 vs Kochi Tuskers Kerala

Perhaps Ishant Sharma wished that Kochi Tuskers Kerala lasted for more than just a season, for his best-ever performance in the IPL came against them. In this 2011 game, Deccan Chargers scored a meagre 129 from their 20 overs.

Sharma found his rhythm from the beginning and picked up three wickets in his first over itself. Parthiv Patel, Raiphi Gomez and Brad Hodge were the victims. In his next over, he picked up two more wickets to claim his first and so far his lone 5-wicket haul in the tournament. This time, the victims were Kedar Jadhav and Mahela Jayawardene.
