The rich legacy of Captain Cool ‘MS Dhoni’

A man who came from a small city of Ranchi strode across International cricket in early 2005 and never looked back since then apart from his achievement as skipper of India and CSK in IPL one thing which remains constant for this genius is his humility and keeping himself cool under tough situations where other leaders would have panicked.

What Dhoni has achieved as skipper of International and franchise cricket it will be difficult for any leader to come close to his record as the number keeps on going be it winning t20 world cup followed by an ODI world cup and Champions trophy to leading Chennai Super Kings to four IPL title at the age of 40 this phenomenon known as “Captain Cool” looks like he can win another IPL title in the upcoming season.

When Harsha Bhogle asked him in the recently concluded Post Match Conference “Are we witnessing Thala for one last time?” to which he said “You never know it all depends on BCCI and we need to sit down as management to think about how we can take CSK forward for next 10 years” to which Harsha cheekily said “What a man what a leader who is leaving his rich legacy behind” and Dhoni as usual smiling face responded “I have still not left” which clearly indicates that he might play in one more IPL but the fact is the kind of form Dhoni possess at the moment it will ideally difficult for him to continue playing in the marquee event.

But even if Dhoni retires from IPL what he will be leaving is his reach legacy which will become a benchmark for most leaders to achieve and one name which stands right up there with Captain Cool is Hitman Rohit Sharma who has successfully led his team towards the five IPL trophies. What Dhoni has achieved as International cricket and franchise cricket as a leader and wicket-keeper batsman is simply incredible.
