Tarundeep Rai is an archer who plays for India and was born on February 22, of the year 1984, in Namchi, Sikkim. The Indian government awarded Tarundeep the Padma Shri in the year 2021 for his contributions to sports. Tarundeep had previously received the Khel Ratna Award in the year 2018.
Archery Career
At the age of 19, Tarundeep competed in the Asian Archery Championship in Yangon, Myanmar, marking his international archery debut for India.
On November 24, of the year 2010, in Guangzhou, China, at the 16th Asian Games, Tarundeep Rai earned India’s first individual silver medal in archery.
At the 15th Asian Games in Doha in the year 2006, Tarundeep Rai was a member of the Indian archery team that brought home the bronze medal for the country.
With a 72-arrow score of 647, Tarundeep finished 32nd in the men’s individual ranking round at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Tarundeep Rai lost 147-143 to Greek opponent Alexandros Karageorgiou in the opening round of elimination. Rai finished in 43rd place as a result of this score. In addition, Rai competed for India’s men’s archery team, which finished in 11th place at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
