Sophie Molineux is an Australian left-arm spinner who represents Australia in all three formats of the game( Test, One-Day Internationals and T20 Internationals). She has lots of potential in her and she has displayed it in the few opportunities she has got at the international stage. She has been a regular in the T20 setup but is yet to make a name for herself in the ODI’s.
Early Life & Journey
Sophie Molineux was born on 17th January 1998 in eastern Victoria. Ever since her childhood, she was fond of cricket and her father was the one who aroused her love for the game. She practiced a lot with her father and he was the one preached her bout the game. Her father was her first cricket coach.
Former head coach of Australia, John Harmer first spotted her in a sports match in Bairnsdale and trained her separately. At the age of 12, she took 7 wickets for zero runs in a primary school game and by the time she was 13 she had scored 98 runs off 60 balls including 5 incredible sixes.
She stayed in Bairnsdale until her graduation and currently she shares a place with her two Australian teammates, Georgia and Tayla.
She made her debut for the Australian women’s t-20 international team in 2018 and later she debuted for the Australian women’s one-day international team in October 2018. At the women’s National Cricket League she showcased a wonderful performance with a total of 7 wickets at an average of 20. 71.
In February 2019 she got selected for in the commonwealth Bank tour for India. In April 2019 she was offered a contract by Cricket Australia with an agreement for the 2019-20 season.

She made her test debut in the women’s Ashes in July 2019. She claimed 3 crucial wickets on day 3 of the Ashes test.
Her T20I debut came on 22 March 2018 versus the Pakistan women at Kuala Lumpur.
Her one-day international debut came on 18 October 2018 against the Pakistan women at Kuala Lumpur.

At the 2017 Allan border Medal ceremony, she was honored by the Betty Wilson Young Player of the Year award. It is a special award that recognizes female cricketers who fall under age 25 and have played 10 or fewer matches.
She became Southern Stars’ 48th T20Iplayer.
