Rishabh Pant has always been seen as someone who has the ability to replace MS Dhoni as the wicketkeeper-batsman for India in all formats of the game.
Although Pant has lost his place in the Indian test XI and is under pressure to keep his place in the ODI and T20I XI as well, nobody has any doubts over his potential.
The only thing why people often criticize Pant is because of his inability to read the game. There have been times when the game has demanded him to milk the bowling rather than to go for his shots, but he has played a rash shot and thrown his wicket away.
If the Delhi left-hander sorts that part of his game, he can play for the next decade or so. And there is certainly nobody better to impart cricketing knowledge on him than MS Dhoni.
Recently, when the Indian cricket team was in Ranchi to play the third test match against South Africa, Pant went to MS Dhoni’s residence and spent some time with the 38-year old legend who is India’s greatest ever wicketkeeper batsman.
Generally, whenever the Indian team is Ranchi, they visit Dhoni’s residence together and bond over the dinner table, but this time around, Dhoni himself came to the JSCA stadium to meet the team.
He was inside the Indian dressing room after India completed a 3-0 whitewash against South Africa on the 4th day of the Ranchi test match.
Rishabh Pant, however, during his stay in Ranchi, found some time to go to Dhoni’s place and had a long chat with the talisman.
Pant shared a picture with Dhoni earlier today where the two of them are sitting in a lawn with a dog and are having a conversation. Both of them are looking pretty chilled.
