Real Madrid eyes on getting in Manchester United’s goalkeeper David De Gea for a £70m transfer bid despite his poor performance this season. According to SunSport Real Madrid boss, Zinedine Zidane is a huge fan of Manchester United’s keeper and is of the opinion that De Gea can be a perfect replacement for Thibaut Courtois.

While on the other hand, Manchester United would be demanding £70million for De Gea, who only signed a new £375,000-a-week contract in September. And no wonder, Madrid is one of the few clubs who could afford the fee and his wages and United could be willing to release him if De Gea indicates he wants to leave as a consequence of Real’s renewed interest.

Of lately, De Gea’s form has been making rounds with another high-profile error in last Sunday’s draw at Everton. And Dean Henderson, on loan at Sheffield United, was already being talked about as a possible replacement for De Gea next season. The 22-year-old has received many positive feedbacks with the promoted Blades who are banging on the door of European qualification.

De Gea almost moved to Real Madrid in the 2015 summer window before the deal got terminated as the paperwork was not submitted in time due to a fax problem.

De Gea hails from the Spanish capital and started his career at Atletico Madrid before moving to Old Trafford in 2011. Till now he has gone on to make 393 United appearances and was regarded as world No 1 until last year.

But due to lack of concentration led Ismaila Sarr’s hamper De Gea’s efforts go through his hands in the defeat at Watford then on Sunday, he delayed clearance and hit it at Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin before the ball rebounded back into the net.

De Gea will return for tomorrow’s Manchester derby but the Goodison blunder was the seventh he has made leading to a goal since the start of last season.

His new deal is due to continue to 2023 with the club having an option to extend it a further year. However, Madrid’s renewed interest may now suit the player and the club.
