Real Madrid defeated the 10th seed Granada by 2-1 in a La Liga fixture on Tuesday and amalgamated more points to stay on top of the team rankings.

The match started with the kickoff and within a few minutes of the gameplay, Madrid defender Ferland Mendy scored the first goal in the match and also his first goal for the side, as he broke through the Granada’s defence after getting possession of the ball from the midline and unleashed a fierce kick to give his side the early lead.

A few moments later, striker Karim Benzema doubled the lead for the visitors by a fine strike off his right leg and assuring a Sureshot lead for the table-toppers.

Sergio Ramos’s men maintained a clean sheet throughout the first half as they didn’t allow a single casualty to the Granada players.

The second half of the game started and in the 60th minute, Granada’s striker Darwin Machis rose to the occasion and secured the first goal for his side in the match. However, that was not enough as Zidane made a few changes to strengthen the side’s offence by bringing in the strikers Rodrygo and Marco Asensio but that didn’t work as Madrid couldn’t score their third goal of the match.

Madrid was still able to win the match and also continued their nine-match winning streak on which the side’ skipper Sergio Ramos reacted by stressing on the fact that the side has not “won anything yet”.

“We can’t let up, we haven’t won anything yet and we’ve got to retain that hunger to win La Liga. We’re now a step closer, but there are still points to play for,” Ramos was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.

Real Madrid is just one win away from winning the La Liga title and currently have 83 points, four points ahead of the second-placed Barcelona.
