Raj Bawa comes from a family which has a very rich sporting history. Raj Bawa’s father name is Sukhwinder Bawa was a well known hockey player and had played for Haryana junior team. He also played for India U19 camp but with early injury he was dropped soon and took retirement. Later on Sukhwinder Bawa became a cricket coach and also coached players like Yuvraj Singh and VRV Singh.
In his early age, Raj Bawa found his mentor/coach in his father and started practicing cricket serious. In an interview Raj talked about his father
My father knew about my cricket. He by some means knew that quick bowling got here naturally to me, so he wished to concentrate on my stick. Initially, I used to be simply specializing in the stick and began bowling.

Raj Bawa’s grandfather name was Tarlochan Singh Bawa who was a well known hockey player and played for Indian hockey team that won the 1948 Olympics games in United Kingdom.
