PV Sindhu is marching ahead for another medal in ongoing Tokyo Olympics 2020

Indian women’s badminton star PV Sindhu who are part of Target Olympics Podium Scheme(TOPS) started by the government of India where all those athletes who are expected to win a medal for the country are given all sort of facilities for their preparation of Olympics 2020.

Sindhu so far hasn’t disappointed as she went on to win both the rounds convincingly and entered into the Knockout stage now where in the last match she defeated NY Cheung by 21-9, 21-16 despite Yamaguchi and another Japanese player can give a tough fight to Sindhu but the absence of Carolina Marin who pulled out from the competition due to injury will this help Sindhu in a big way.

She will be next facing Denmark Mia Blichfeldt in the round of 16 which is also an elimination match at 6.15 Am IST. Sindhu has certainly established as one of the leading badminton players of India of all time as she clinched a silver medal in last Olympics 2016 and the only women’s player from India who won Badminton World Championship title.

With earnings around the US $8.5 million and the US $5.5 million respectively she made into Forbes list of Highest-Paid Female athletes in 2018 and 2019 respectively. She is the recipient of the Sports Honour Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award.  She has won Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan which is the third fourth and third highest civilian awards in India in January 2020.

An Economic Times report published in March 2017, said that she is second only to Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli when it comes to earnings from brand endorsements  Pusarla charges brands anywhere between ₹10 million (US$140,000) and ₹12.5 million (US$180,000) for a single day of endorsement-related activities.

As Sindhu is lone women player who qualified from India in ongoing Olympics 2020 after another experienced campaigner Saina Nehwal could not qualify for one of the biggest sporting in the world due to most of the competition getting cancelled due to COVID-19.
