Pep Guardiola Might Make A Shocking Return To Bayern Munich

After pipping Liverpool to the Premier League title last season, Guardiola seems no longer happy with his managerial life at Manchester City and Bayern Munich is looking forward to capitalize on the situation as reported by Sport Bild.

The Bavarians, who at the beginning of November sacked Niko Kovac and appointed Hans-Dieter Flick as their Interim manager after a string of disappointing results, have shortlisted three candidates who can take the role next summer.

The list holds Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola at the top followed by Paris Saint-Germain’s Thomas Tuchel and the Ajax manager Erik ten Hag.

The City manager who still owns a flat in Munich had served three seasons at the Allianz Arena where he won many trophies but failed to win the Champions League, despite reaching three semi-finals. He has been in regular contact with the Bayern bosses since he left the club.

He has a contract at Eithad until 2021, but the Bavarians are hoping to bring him back before that.

Pep Guardiola penned a three-year deal in May 2018 after leading the Sky Blues to a domestic treble. However, they have struggled so far this term, losing three times in the Premier League already. They are currently trailing by 9 points to the table toppers Liverpool.

The report in Sports Bild also states that it’s possible Guardiola might choose to manage a national side if he leaves City.

Guardiola, so far, hasn’t been the manager of a national Football team. He started his managerial career at Barcelona where he achieved a tremendous amount of success including the Champions League title.

He then moved to Bayern where he didn’t win the Champions League, but won the domestic league three times in a row. The Spaniard has won the domestic league twice in England as well with Manchester City. He might now look for a different challenge in the international arena.
