The social media war is at its peak and celebrities are leaving no stones unturned in having a go at each other over the Pulawama terror attack.

Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar Rift Finally Resolved:- When BCCI is planning to boycott the Pakistan cricket team from the 2019 World Cup, the media spurred to legendary cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Sourav Ganguly for their reactions. Sunil Gavaskar expressed his views by stating that India always had an upper hand over Pakistan in the ICC tournaments and would easily defeat them in their next World Cup meeting on June 16, 2019.

He stated “If India decides not to play Pakistan in the World Cup, who wins? Pakistan gets two points. We have beaten them every time in World Cups. We can play them and beat them and make sure they don’t reach the semi-finals. Not playing bilateral series vs Pakistan hurts them.

“I know India is strong enough to qualify by not playing Pakistan. Not playing bilaterally hurts them. But it’s a World Cup, its two points…,”

“If they were no points given, if there were zero points for not playing, I would say don’t play them. My best response as a player would go and play them and beat them and deny those two points”, he further added.

Legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar also loaned his support to veteran Sunil Gavaskar by stating “hate to give away two points to Pakistan in the World Cup”. The situation became worse when controversial journalist Arnab Goswami criticized Sachin Tendulkar and declared him wrong in his opinion. He stated “I don’t believe in any gods. Sachin is 100 percent wrong. Sachin Tendulkar, if he has any sense, should realize that he should be the first person to say don’t play with Pakistan. And Sunil Gavaskar should be the second person to say we should not play with Pakistan. These people say we need two points. Both are damn wrong. I don’t need two points. I want revenge for my martyrs. Understand? Sachin Tendulkar can take his two points and put it in the dustbin,”

The entire nation was divided into two sections, unfortunately, his best ally for the last 25 years Sourav Ganguly expressed displeasure and said “He (Sachin) wants two points against Pakistan, I want the World Cup”  during a promotional event in Kolkata.

The statement was said in a motivational tone, but the media colored it with anti-nationalism and friendship rift. Sourav Ganguly quickly assessed the aftermath of the entire episode and clarified that his statement has nothing to do with Sachin Tendulkar, it was said in a general taste. He said that Sachin has been and will be one of his best friends for the next 25 years.

Later Sachin responded to Ganguly tweet saying “Never felt the need for you to justify. Strongly believe that all of us want what’s best for our nation.”
