On This Day: Wasim Jaffer Takes us down the Memory Lane of India vs South Africa Test

Wasim Jaffer

As the Sporting Event has come to a halt and most of the people are lockdown in their houses or if you want to term it as “Self quarantine” that will be the right word for it. Former Indian Cricketer and Ranji Stalwart “Wasim Jaffer” revisited the memory lane by watching the India vs South Africa test of 2006 under Rahul Dravid’s Captaincy where India emerged not just victorious but also registered their first-ever Test match win on the South African Soil.

He also asked questions to people “How are you spending your time?” I am watching the “India Vs South Africa Test”. He went on adding that “Sreesanth was amazing in that test match as he delivered an amazing firing spell in that test match” along with Solid Batting by “ Sourav Ganguly” in First Innings in tough situations and was equally complimented by “VVS Laxman” in the second innings where he played a classy knock.

The match was played in Johannesburg. Let me take you down towards the match summary and individual brilliance by other players in that match.

Sourav Ganguly played an amazing Knock of 51 in the first innings and took India’s total by 249.
S Sreesanth took five wickets in the first innings and bundled out the entire South African team on 84.
In the second Innings, VVS Laxman played a knock of 73 and after the useful contribution the score went up by 412 runs.

In The Second Innings Zaheer Khan, Sreesanth and Anil Kumble took 3 wickets each and eventually India won the match by 123 runs. However, the fate of the series was not in India’s Favour as they lost the second and third test match against South Africa.

Wasim Jaffer has presented a good example that in some much chaos nowadays due to coronavirus if you revisit the memory lane you can enjoy the wining moments and that would eventually bring a smile on your face.
