Nelson Semedo is a professional Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a right-back for the Spanish club Barcelona and the Portugal national team. He stepped into professional football from Sintrense, then Benfica in 2012. His major accelerating point came when he joined Barcelona in 2017, where he assisted the club to win two La Liga Championships in his first two seasons.
For his national team, he made his senior debut for Portugal in October 2015 and assisted as being a part of the team in the 2017 Confederations Cup as well as the 2018-19 UEFA Nations League.
EARLY LIFE
Nelson was born on 16th November 1993 in Lisbon, Portugal. He is a mixture of both Portuguese as well as the Cape Verdean heritage. Growing up, Nelson was born under his mother’s guidance. He has an elder brother who unlike Nelson doesn’t like soccer and in the future made his career in academics.
Nelson got his craze for football from the most famous play station game FIFA, he was addicted to playing video games especially the FIFA. He always chooses Barcelona as his team and never forgets to choose Lionel Messi in his team.
He was a great fan of once a time the most famous footballer Ronaldinho. The magician footballer who played once from the Barcelona side was the face of the FIFA 2007 PlayStation 2 gaming series. Ronaldinho was the greatest inspiration of Nelson, from which he started playing and learning Football with his friends on local pitches.
PERSONAL LIFE
Despite choosing a partner from the white race, as most of the black footballers go through, Nelson chooses Marlene Alvarenga as his life partner who belongs from his family origin.
The Couple is happily married and is blessed with a child named Luana Pereira Semedo who was born on 9th May 2016.

PROFESSIONAL LIFE
Nelson played street football till the age of 15 and then enrolled himself in the Sintrense Club. He impressed everyone at the club and made everyone believe in his potential.
Nelson gradually, through his determination and hard work, acquired a place in the senior side of the club where under the assistance of top Portuguese clubs, he was acquired by Benfica.
Nelson was assigned in Benfica B after he joined the club as a midfielder but wasn’t getting chances to play so he was confused about whether to stay or leave the club.
His confusion was cleared by the former coach O Jogo who convinced him to stay in the club. His decision proved worthy as being in the club Nelson assisted to Conquer the 2015-16 and 2016-17 Primeira Liga, 2016-17 Taca de Portugal, 2015-16 Taca da Liga, and 2016 Supertaca Candido de Oliveira by defeating Braga in the finals by 3-0.
On 13th July 2017, he joined the Spanish club Barcelona for 30.5 million euros and another potential 5 million euros for every 50 game he would appear as a part of the club’s team.
On 16th August Nelson played his first match for the team against the Real Madrid in a 0-2 loss in the Supercopa de Espana. He made his Champions League debut on 13th September 2017 in which he was praised for delivering great performance in conquering a win over Juventus.
He netted his first competitive goal on 27th January 2019 in a 2-0 win against Girona. As a part of Barcelona, he had assisted the team to conquer the 2017-18 & 2018-19 La Liga, 2017-18 Copa del Rey, and 2018 Supercopa de Espana.
Playing from the Portugal national side, he contributed his gameplay to conquer the 2019 UEFA Nations League and FIFA Confederations Cup where his team ended in third place.
