“My Wife was unconscious, I was crying but people….” Wasim Akram recalls horrific incident at Chennai Airport

Wasim Akram, sometimes known as the “Sultan of Swing,” is a true legend of the game has amassed 502 ODI wickets.

During his retirement, Akram has been outspoken on a variety of matters, whether it be addressing difficulties in Pakistan cricket or belittling other players for their subpar performances.

Akram recently published Sultan Wasim Akram, a book in which he recounted various events from his playing days.

Even more so, he spoke extensively about his allegations of match fixing, compulsion to play with Ramiz Raja, a below-average cricketer, and corruption in Pakistani cricket.

Wasim was recently talking with Sportstar where he talked about his experience at Chennai Airport at length.

He mentioned that he was about to travel to Singapore and flight stopped at Chennai due to engine refuelling and unfortunately his wife Late Huma Akram felt unconscious and he started crying as they both didn’t have Indian Visas but the people at the airport recognized him and told him not to worry about and took his wife to hospital for further treatment.

“I was flying to Singapore with my late wife and there was a stop in Chennai for refueling. When he landed, she was unconscious, I was crying and people recognized me at the airport. We didn’t have an Indian visa. We both had Pakistani passports. The people at the Chennai airport, the security forces, and the customs and immigration officials told me not to worry about the visa and take my wife to the hospital while they sort the visa out. That is something I will never forget, as a cricketer and as a human being,” he revealed.

Wasim Akram has been vocal about his fights with his fellow Pakistani players where on a particular instance he talked about Shoaib Akhtar and said in a live interview “ Akhtar needs to learn some manner on how to speak in media as he seriously don’t understand how to talk about seniors on national television”

Akhtar responded “He is my senior I have so much to reveal about him but considering his stature I don’t speak much about him and if I start telling his secrets he wouldn’t even dare to sit on national media” .
