Manchester City strike a deal with exciting Belgian winger Jeremy Doku

English Premier League champions Manchester City are on the verge of completing a deal for Belgium born Winger Jeremy Doku on a Β£51m deal. There is a verbal agreement in place between City and Ligue 1 side Stade Rennes for the 21-year-old who is in line to complete his move by this week.

Doku agreed on personal terms with Man City a couple of weeks ago despite other Premier League clubs rivaling City for his signature. The likes of Chelsea, Aston Villa and West Ham United, all enquired about the player’s situation but the 21-year-old only wants to join last season’s UEFA Champions League winners.

City have had a busy summer, selling and buying players until now and it will remain the same until the deadline day. They replaced Treble winning captain Ilkay Gundogan with Croatia’s Mateo Kovacic and also signed Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig several weeks later.

With the signing of Jeremy Doku, City’s quest for a new winger to replace Riyadh Mahrez will end. The Algerian International switched allegiance to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli on a €35m deal plus add-ons. And it will be interesting to see how the future of City’s academy talent Cole Palmer will turn out to be who also plays in the same position as Mahrez.

Palmer scored wonderful goals for City, first during the Community Shield against Arsenal and then a match saving equalizer against Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup 2023 at Athens. Pep Guardiola made it very clear after the Super Cup that Palmer will either stay or leave permanently, shrugging off all conversations about any Loan deal.

Palmer will certainly have to fight for his place once Jeremy Doku arrives who will have his medical tests done by this week. The 21-year-old made 92 appearances for Stade Rennes, scoring 12 goals and assisting 10 times.
