The Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 was successfully held in Orissa, with Germany winning the main event by defeating Belgium in a thrilling game.

During the final match, there were many dramatic highs and lows, and both sides deserve praise for bringing their best effort when it counted most.

Reid has been outstanding for the national team despite India’s 0-2 loss to the Kangaroos during his maiden coaching visit.

After a 41-year hiatus, India earned the bronze medal in 2021 in Tokyo.

Russia was defeated 2-0 by the national team in FIH Olympic qualifying matches.

India took fourth place in the FIH Pro League in 2021.

They also went on a tour of Europe in 2021, winning 1-0 matches against Germany and Great Britain.

India demonstrated their dominance by capturing the bronze medal at the 2021 Asian Champion Trophy.

They excelled in the 2021–2022 Pro League, finishing third, and maintained that performance through the 2022 Commonwealth Games, winning silver.

Prior to travelling for the 2023 Men’s Hockey World Cup, they suffered a 1-4 test series loss against Australia.

The Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 saw India place ninth, and Graham Reid’s resignation from his position marked the end of an era for Indian hockey.

Large voids will need to be filled by the next coach. Let’s observe how things develop moving forward from this point.
