Fans Slam Hockey India for removing Graham Reid as Head Coach after World Cup Debacle

Graham Reid

Germany won the prestigious competition in Orissa’s successful staging of the Men’s Hockey World Cup’s 15th edition.

After the full-time score and the penalty kick resulted in a draw, and the game’s victory was determined based on sudden death, the final game between Germany and Belgium was a top-notch fight that went down to the wire.

India’s performance in the main event was below par as they lost to Black Sticks in the current edition’s pre-quarterfinal round.

Graham Reid will no longer serve as the head coach of the national team, it was decided following a review meeting that was held yesterday.

Reid has contributed significantly to Indian hockey, and in 2020, after 40 years, Men in Blue went on to win the bronze medal, so the decision seems odd.

Reid’s career was over after the failure in one world cup match because of India’s performance in the just finished FIH Pro League, which was also above average.

In addition to focusing on enhancing their penalty corner conversion, India needs to master offensive instinct from this point forward.

The forward position should be built with the ideal combination of youth and experience so that they are well equipped to handle challenging circumstances.

Graham Reid has done a lot for the national team, so it will be intriguing to watch who steps into his big shoes.
