Leeds United and Manchester United drew 1-1 in a Premier League match at Elland Road on Sunday 18 October 2026, extending United's winless run. Bryan Mbeumo gave the visitors the lead in the 35th minute, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalised for Leeds in the 51st minute from close range after a corner was poorly defended. The result stretched United's run without a win to six matches in all competitions.
Mbeumo turned in a low cross from Youri Tielemans for his fourth goal of the season. United played without a recognised striker for most of the game, allowing Tielemans to take a more attacking role. United led at the interval for the first time in the league this season. The Leeds goal came from a Tarik Muharemovic knockdown from a corner, with Calvert-Lewin beating goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
United replaced Lisandro Martínez with Noussair Mazraoui at half-time and kept their back-three formation. Martínez had started the match after apologising for comments he made on Thursday. United faded as the game went on and were outrun. Ethan Ampadu made his 100th appearance as Leeds captain, while Bruno Fernandes and Gabriel Gudmundsson were both booked.
Michael Carrick, United's head coach, said: "It felt like a bit of a fresh start today, in terms of where we're at." Leeds manager Daniel Farke said: "We were the dominant side today, but sadly we could not fully capitalise on it". Calvert-Lewin, the Leeds striker, said: "I think we were unlucky not to win the game."
Calvert-Lewin has scored in six of his last seven home Premier League games, with seven goals in that time. Only Erling Haaland, with 13, has scored more Premier League goals since the start of April than Calvert-Lewin, who has eight. United have won one of seven Premier League games, their fewest wins at this stage of a top‑flight season since 1986-87. Leeds sit on 10 points from 7 games and United on 7 points.
Before this game United had six points from six league games, their worst start to a top‑flight season in 40 years. United's Premier League run stands at five matches without a win, with their last league victory on 30 August. Earlier in the week United lost 2-0 to Atlético Madrid, after which Martínez criticised director of football Jason Wilcox and the strength of the squad, and later apologised.
Leeds had beaten United 2-1 at Old Trafford in April, ending a run of 10 league games without a win against them. Leeds fans were hoping for a first home win over United in 24 years. Before this fixture, United had drawn 1-1 with 10-man Tottenham, who equalised late through Dominic Solanke. Carrick still has boardroom support, but that may not last if results stay poor.
