Leeds United and Manchester United drew 1-1 at Elland Road on Sunday 18 October 2026 in a Premier League match that kicked off at 2pm. Bryan Mbeumo put the visitors in front before the break, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin brought Leeds level after the interval. The result meant Leeds supporters, who had been hoping for a first home win over United in 24 years, were left disappointed.

Mbeumo scored in the 35th minute and Calvert-Lewin equalised in the 51st. Mbeumo's goal was a diverted finish from Youri Tielemans' low cross, beating Leeds goalkeeper James Trafford. It was also the first time this season that United had led at half-time in a league game. At the interval, they replaced Lisandro Martínez with Noussair Mazraoui.

The equaliser came from a corner. A header or knockdown from Tarik Muharemovic fell to Calvert-Lewin, who held off Mbeumo and scored from close range past Senne Lammens. Calvert-Lewin has scored in six of his last seven home Premier League games, with seven goals in that time. Only Erling Haaland, with 13, has scored more league goals than his 8 since the start of April.

Calvert-Lewin spoke about the match afterwards. "I think we were unlucky not to win the game," the Leeds striker said. Describing his goal, he said: "I just tried to cause a ruckus." United manager Michael Carrick said: "It definitely tests you and it wasn't a perfect performance but there was a lot in there to show."

Views differed on United's display. It was a full-blooded derby that lacked quality, and United matched Leeds' intensity and deserved a point. Another view was that Carrick's side faded badly and were outrun as the game went on. Leeds had lost 2-1 at Arsenal the previous weekend, when James Justin scored first before Ricardo Calafiori and Bruno Guimarães replied for the league champions.

The draw extended United's winless Premier League run to five matches, and they are winless in six games in all competitions. Their one league win this season is their fewest after seven games of a top-flight campaign since 1986-87. Carrick's future "remains far from secure", and United had won only one of their previous six league games this season.

There was also off-field attention on Martínez before the game. He criticised the club after a midweek Champions League defeat to Atlético Madrid, appearing to say that it had not done enough to strengthen the squad in the transfer window. He later apologised and was named in the starting line-up on Sunday, before being replaced by Mazraoui at half-time in the draw at Elland Road.
