Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Leeds United at Elland Road on Sunday 18 October 2026 in the Premier League, a result that leaves head coach Michael Carrick still under pressure. The match kicked off at 2pm UK time. Bryan Mbeumo put the visitors ahead before Dominic Calvert-Lewin levelled for the hosts, and the point did little to ease concern around the club.

Mbeumo scored in the 35th minute, finishing low past James Trafford after Youri Tielemans created the chance. Leeds equalised in the 51st minute. Tarik Muharemovic knocked down a corner and Calvert-Lewin scored from close range, beating Senne Lammens. United used a back three and had no recognised striker for most of the match, which allowed Tielemans to play in a more attacking role.

Lisandro Martínez started but was replaced by Noussair Mazraoui at half-time. Martínez had apologised for comments made on Thursday, which criticised the club hierarchy over a lack of summer spending and followed a Champions League defeat at Atlético Madrid. United were outrun again as the game went on, while they matched Leeds for intensity and earned a deserved point.

Carrick spoke after the game. "It definitely tests you and it wasn't a perfect performance, but there was a lot in there to show," he said. He added, "There was definitely commitment. It had to be there today. I didn't doubt that." He also said the draw "felt like a fresh start" and that the season can still be a good one.

Leeds head coach Daniel Farke saw the game differently. "I thought we were the dominant side," he said. The pundit Jamie Carragher gave a more measured view of United's display: "In isolation, going to Leeds and performing how they did was a decent result". Leeds supporters had hoped for their first home win over United in 24 years.

United now have 7 points from 7 league games, with one win, four draws and two defeats. That is their fewest wins at this stage of a top‑flight season since 1986-87. Their only league win came against Ipswich in August. The result leaves them in the bottom half of the table, and Carrick said the situation "doesn't look great".

Carrick also said he had "the headphones on" during the week to block out the noise. United showed more intent than in last week's 1-1 draw with Tottenham at Old Trafford, after which disgruntled fans booed the team off. United travel to Italian side Como in the Champions League on Wednesday 21 October, then host Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday 25 October.
