A Connection Between Cricket and Bollywood
This isn’t the first time cricket and Bollywood have crossed paths. Many Caribbean players are known for their love of Bollywood. Kolkata Knight Riders’ owner Shah Rukh Khan, is a huge Bollywood star himself, and have been seen hanging out with Andre Russell. In fact, Russell has been spotted singing the popular Bollywood song “Lutt Putt Gaya” on both a flight and in a car recently. It seems Russell’s passion for music goes beyond just his upcoming debut song.
Following in the Footsteps of Other West Indian Cricketers
Russell isn’t the first cricketer to try his hand at music in India. DJ Bravo, formerly of the Chennai Super Kings, is a familiar name when it comes to cricketers who’ve made music in India. His song “Champion” is still a popular track. Another IPL star batsman, Chris Gayle, also has a song under his belt called “Jamaica to India.” Looks like there’s a growing trend of West Indian cricketers showcasing their musical talents in India.
With a catchy title and a collaboration between a popular cricketer and actress, “Ladki to Kamaal Ki” is bound to generate a lot of buzz. Whether it becomes a chart-topper like DJ Bravo’s “Champion” remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: Andre Russell is definitely showing the world that he’s a multi-talented entertainer, both on and off the cricket pitch. So, get ready for some foot-tapping music and some surprising dance moves from Andre Russell when the song releases on May 9th.
