Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah and Batter Shreyas Iyer are likely to return in time for Asia Cup 2023, latest reports have suggested. Both of them missed the all important World Test Championship Final against Australia at the Oval where India suffered a 209-run loss.
They were going to play a major role for India in the final but the management had to forcefully pick some players that were not even in the plans. The Aussies led by Pat Cummins bamboozled the Indian team which looked heavily under confident in English conditions.

Rohit Sharma’s men lacked composure and did not show the right temperament to win the one-off Test. One of the reasons for India’s poor outing was the lengthy schedule of IPL 2023. While the Aussies were relentlessly preparing for the Ultimate test, most of the Indian players were busy playing the cash rich league.
Following the WTC disappointment, team India are set for a month-long tour to West Indies before Asia Cup 2023 begins at Pakistan and Sri-Lanka.
Bumrah and Iyer already at NCA for recovery ahead of Asia Cup 2023
Both Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah dealt with back injuries but they are currently at NCA, Bangalore to attain full recovery. While Bumrah has missed all cricketing actions since September 2022, Iyer was forced to undergo surgery for his recurring lower back injury.

The Right-handed batter was forced out of the Indian team that won 2-1 in the Border-Gavaskar trophy earlier this year and he also missed the entire IPL 2023 season. Iyer and Bumrah will not just be imperative for India during Asia Cup 2023 but also for the ICC Cricket World cup at home soil from October.
Officials at the NCA are hopeful of deeming Bumrah and Iyer fit ahead of an important cricketing schedule later this year. Both of them are currently undergoing Physiotherapy sessions and there is indeed a glimmer of hope that they will return in time for the Asia Cup 2023 and the Cricket World cup.
