One of Team India’s most well-known players at the moment is wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan. The 24-year-old cricket player, who made his debut in 2021, has played 13 ODIs and amassed an incredible total of 507 runs. Ishan has played 24 T20I matches, totaling 629 runs with four half-centuries.
In the third One-Day International of the three-match series against Bangladesh in December of last year, Ishan also scored a record-breaking fastest double hundred (210 off 131 balls). However, the Jharkhand-raised cricketer, who was born in Patna, claimed that Mahendra Singh Dhoni, a former captain of India, was someone he has always looked up to.
Ishan stated in a video posted on BCCI Twitter that MS Dhoni was his childhood hero in cricket since they shared a similar hometown and that he also represented Jharkhand. Ishan added, “Now that I am here, I will make sure that I make my team win so many other games.”

Ishan also shared that getting an autograph from Dhoni when he was only 18 years old was the most unforgettable moment of his life. I only ever asked for an autograph was from MS Dhoni. I finally got to meet him when I was 18 years old. For me, it was—and still is—a particularly unforgettable moment and I’m honoured to receive his autograph on my bat “Ishan added.
