IPL 2024: Playoffs in Ahmedabad and Chennai, CSK’s Home Ground To Host Final

The wait for the complete Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 schedule is over. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finally released the remaining fixtures for the season. The key things to note is that the qualifiers will be played in Ahmedabad and Chennai, while the final of the season will be played at Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) home ground MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Unlike some previous seasons, all 74 matches of the IPL 2024 will be played within India. This means fans across the country can catch the action live or cheer on their favorite teams from home.

Playoff Venues Revealed: The excitement builds even more with the announcement of the playoff locations. The high-pressure matches will be held in two familiar cities: Ahmedabad and Chennai.

  • Qualifier 1 & Eliminator: Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad (May 21 & 22)
  • Qualifier 2 & Final: Chepauk Stadium, Chennai (May 24 & 26)

These choices make sense considering last year’s finalists. Both Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans will have the advantage of playing the playoffs on their home grounds, if they qualify. Additionally, Chennai, which hosted the season’s opening match, gets the honour of hosting the final as well.

Remember the first 21 matches that were announced earlier? The remaining schedule picks up right where we left off, starting on Monday, April 8th. Just like the initial set of games, the second leg kicks off with a Chennai Super Kings match, this time against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Chepauk Stadium.

The BCCI had to navigate a logistical challenge – India’s General Elections scheduled between April 19th and June 1st. Thankfully, they’ve done a great job of ensuring no matches clash with the elections in any particular city. This allows for the smooth running of the tournament while maintaining the home and away format for each team.

Cricket fans in Dharamshala are also delighted. The picturesque hill town, traditionally a second home ground for the Punjab Kings, will host two of their matches:

  • May 5th: Punjab Kings vs Chennai Super Kings (Day Game)
  • May 9th: Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (Night Game)

Guwahati, the preferred second base for Rajasthan Royals, will also host two matches:

  • May 15th: Rajasthan Royals vs Punjab Kings
  • May 19th: Rajasthan Royals vs Kolkata Knight Riders (The last match of the league phase.)

After a well-deserved break on May 20th, the high-stakes playoff games begin on May 21st. Buckle up for an exciting conclusion to the IPL 2024.

With the complete schedule finally here, cricket fans can now plan their viewing experience and cheer on their favourite teams throughout the season. From the opening matches to the nail-biting playoffs, the IPL 2024 promises to be a thrilling spectacle of cricket in India.
