IPL 2023 : “Rohit Sharma needs to sit out for a while to regain his form!” warns Sunil Gavaskar.

Indian National cricket team and Mumbai Indians’ 5-time IPL winning Captain Rohit Sharma is in desperate need of a break for sometime so that he can regain his form, thinks former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar. Rohit Sharma has had a terrible outing with the bat this season and has looked far far away from his best.

The 35-year-old will turn 36 in 4 days time with his side on IPL duty against Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede but the most successful team in the tournament is not playing like a Champion team. MI suffered a massive 55-run loss against reigning champions Gujarat Titans which was their 2nd loss on the trot.

In total Mumbai have won only 3 times this season and are languishing in the 7th position in the points table. One of their major concerns have been their middle-order which has performed inconsistently this season. Captain Rohit Sharma’s poor form is also a major contributor behind MI’s disappointing start to the season.

Off-late he has looked pale and if he continues to play in the same way then winning the ICC World Test Championship as well as the Cricket World cup will come under scrutiny. If he fails to get India off to a positive start then the wait for an ICC trophy will further delay.

Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has given a few advises to Rohit Sharma, suggesting that he either needs a change in the batting order or get a break fro Cricket for a while to comeback fresh.

“I would like to see some change in the batting order for MI. Honestly, I would also say that Rohit should maybe also take a break for the time being, and keep himself fit for the World Test Championship. He can come back again for the last few matches, but right now, take a little bit of a breather himself.” – said Gavaskar via ESPNcricinfo.
