IPL 2020, RCB VS KXIP: Gayle set for debut as Punjab face Bengaluru in must win game

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will take on a struggling Kings X1 Punjab team at Sharjah. Both teams are on extreme ends of the table. Kings X1 campaign is in tatters with a solitary win in seven matches while on the other hand RCB have win 5 matches in seven games, their best position after seven matches since 2014.

Starting with Kings X1, they have the herculean task of winning all seven matches to reach playoffs but at present looks unlikely. They have lost three matches from winning positions and find themselves at bottom of the table.

In some matches batting and in some bowling have let them down. Chris Gayle is likely to get in playing X1 against RCB and would like to set the stadium on fire. Mayank in middle order might give them middle-order stability which they are lacking.

Maxwell might miss out to accommodate Gayle. Kumble would like to see his team produce a complete performance to get back to winning ways and from there would like to gather momentum for remaining matches. Foreign bowling contingent has been below par and has been taken to cleaners. RCB have been doing the right things most of the time and are sitting pretty on the top half of the table.

Their batting has been getting back to best and their bowling, weak link for many years, has started to click with Morris and co being right on the money. They will field an unchanged side mostly and would like to continue the momentum. Sharjah wicket is slowing down and 160+ is considered a par score. Toss will be vital and batting first will be the way.

RCB bowlers should look to get Chris Gayle early as he can change the complexion of the game within overs. RCB start as clear favourites but Gayle’s presence cannot be neglected.
