IPL 2020: Players with highest base price announced ahead of auctions

The upcoming IPL auctions will see 971 players fighting it out to take the 73 spots that are available among all eight franchises. Each team will have the chance to list the players they want from the list, and only the names that have been given will be auctioned in Kolkata on December 19. The players with the highest base prices of INR 2 crore and INR 1.5 crore was also announced.

Pat Cummins, the tearaway quick, has enlisted himself in the 2-crore bracket, while Chris Lynn, who was released by Kolkata Knight Riders after an inconsistent run also listed himself in the top bracket. The other Australian who is in the 2 crore club includes Glenn Maxwell, who is on a break from cricket to deal with mental health issues, Josh Hazlewood, who missed the World Cup this year due to an injury, and Mitchell Marsh. 55 players from Australia have given their names for the auctions.

The two other cricketers in the 2 crore bracket include Dale Steyn, who played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2019, and Sri Lanka’s Angelo Mathews.

The list of players in the INR 1.5 crore club was released as well, with Robin Uthappa being the only Indian in the price bracket. The Karnataka player had a disappointing season with KKR and played a frustrating knock in a do-or-die game that saw KKR crash out. Chris Morris, who was released from Delhi Capitals, and Kane Richardson are the other players who have enlisted themselves in the 1,5 crore bracket. Jason Roy, Eoin Morgan are the other players in the list, and it is expected that both will attract huge bids, especially after their recent form is concerned.

While Roy, the opener, played a huge role in England’s successful run in the World Cup, Eion Morgan is an aggressive middle-order batter, who can turn games on its head in just a few overs. Teams like KKR and Kings XI Punjab, who are struggling to find aggressive players in the middle order can potentially bid for the English skipper.
