India Seals Third Test Win Against Australia in Melbourne

India Vs Australia: After hard-fought tussle finally Australia perished to the hands of Indian bowlers giving India 2-1 lead in the series. India won the Melbourne test by 137 runs, Australia lost the rest 2 wickets in 24 balls. Pat Cummins was the leading run scorer for Australia in the second innings by 63 runs. India dominated the game from the day 1 and declared the first innings at 443, thanks to the nerve-wracking knocks of debutant Mayank Agarwal and modern-day wall Cheteshwar Pujara.

The target of 443 on a stingy bouncy pitch can shiver anyone’s spine, Australian batting was blown away by the Bumrah storm at the score of 151. By the third day, the pitch started to wear and tear and started offering uneven bounce to the pacers. India in the second innings also was bamboozled by the Aussie pace battery. Eventually, they had to declare the innings at 106/8.

Australia fought back hard and covered the lost ground, although no player even scored a fifty in the innings, every player contributed with fruitful ’30s and ’40s. By the fourth day, Australia lost 8 wickets at the score of 258 with 141 more runs to win. Momentum started to shift in India’s favor.


India Vs Australia: Confident Indian team on day 5 wasted no time and wrapped the Australian batting in the first hour of the play. It was curtains for Australia, they now trail the series 1-2 with 1 test remaining. India is on the verge of winning the historic test series down under. India has never won a test series in Australia till date. They managed to level the series in 2003-04, but since then Team India has seen 2 series whitewash.

India now leads the series 2-1 with 1 test remaining. Jaspreet Bumrah was adjudged man of the match for his match winning bowling spells. The fourth and the last test will be played in Sydney from January 3 to January 7, 2019.
