West Indies

India is looking to nurture young bowlers during the West Indies tour. The team management has selected young bowlers such as Jaydev Unadkat, Umran Malik, and Mukesh Kumar, who have shown their form in domestic cricket.

Bowlers like Mohd Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav are also part of the squad, providing a blend of youth and experience. Moreover, the team includes senior bowlers Ravindra Jadeja and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Mukesh Kumar

Mukesh Kumar emerged as a highly impressive bowler during the recent IPL season, taking seven wickets for the Delhi Capitals. His remarkable performances for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy carried over into the IPL, where he consistently made an impact. Mukesh can generate pace and swing and potentially introduce another dimension to the Indian bowling attack.

Jaydev Unadkat

After a hiatus of 10 years, Jaydev Unadkat has been given a chance to his bowling again in the India tour of West Indies. Jaydev debuted for the Indian team on 24 July 2013 against Zimbabwe. However, his last appearance in an ODI for India was on 21 November 2013, against the West Indies in Kochi. Jaydev Unadkat’s IPL career peaked in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

Umran Malik

Hailing from Gujjar Nagar, Jammu & Kashmir, Umran Malik, known as the Jammu Express, was born in 1999. The fast bowler has been included in the squad, marking a powerful addition to the team. Umran’s remarkable pace and speed are anticipated to be vital in countering the West Indies batters during the upcoming tour.

Axar Patel

This year in IPL 2023, fans witnessed the impressive bowling of Axar Patel and Mohammed Siraj. Siraj claimed an impressive total of 19 wickets, while Patel contributed with 11 wickets. Additionally, Patel’s versatility as a great all-rounder was evident as he scored 283 runs while representing the Delhi Capitals.

Mohammed Siraj

Siraj recently demonstrated exceptional bowling during the WTC. In the first innings, he took the crucial wickets of Usman Khawaja, Travis Head, Pat Cummins, and Nathan Lyon of Australia. He continued to make an impact by dismissing Warner in the second innings.

In addition to the young bowlers, the team also has the presence of experienced players like Ravindra Jadeja, a remarkable all-rounder, and Yuzvendra Chahal. Jadeja displayed his power in the IPL season 2023, claiming an impressive tally of 20 wickets, contributing significantly to Chennai Super Kings’ title victory.

Jadeja’s impactful performance also extended to the WTC final, where he played a crucial role by taking four wickets. In the first innings, he secured a vital wicket, while in the second innings, he dismissed Steve Smith, Travis Head, and Cameron Green.
