IND Vs AUS 2nd ODI : Gautam Gambhir says Former Cricketers need "Masala" to remain active amid KL Rahul criticism!

Former Indian Cricketer and World cup winner Gautam Gamhir has slandered some of the ex-cricketers who now serve as Expert analysts on the wake of KL Rahul’s massive criticism. After Australia registered an exceptional 10-wicket victory over India to level the 3-match ODI series against India.

Gambhir had a savage reply to all the ex-cricketers who slammed Rahul after his performance in the 2nd ODI. “How Rahul has fared in the IPL, he has 4-5 centuries in the tournament. And you are talking about a player who has already slammed 4-5 centuries. Even last season he scored a century against Mumbai Indians. We have so many people here. Sometimes ex-cricketers need some masala to remain active. So that’s why you criticise people.”

Now it is all to play for the next ODI at the Chidambaram Stadium but India’s batting line-up is being heavily discouraged. A Middle-order collapse saw India fold out for just 117 runs and lost their 5th ODI match without getting a single wicket.

Surya Kumar Yadav, KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya shared only 10 runs between them while Virat Kohli was the team’s highest scorer with 31 runs off 35 balls. While some Ex-players came in support of the batters some lashed out on to the players.

One of the ex-cricketers who shared his comments on the same was 2007 & 2011 World cup winner Gautam Gambhir. The former Left-handed Batter came out in support of number 5 Batsman KL Rahul. Both of them are connected to each other through Lucknow Super Giants with Rahul being the captain, Gautam Gambhir serves as the mentor of the team.

They will re-unite this season after a successful inaugural season in 2022 where they finished 3rd in the standings. This season, LSG will look to go an extra mile in attempt to capture the IPL title. He sat with Sportstak and supported KL Rahul after he got out for 9 runs in the 2nd ODI.

Gambhir mentioned the fact that Rahul is a proven player and he doesn’t have any pressure on his head. “As far as KL Rahul is concerned, I don’t think he is under any kind of pressure. International cricket and IPL are different from each other. If you don’t perform in international cricket despite scoring 1000 runs in IPL, you will still have to deal with criticism.
