Esports has successfully created a spot in the Indian market in last 2 years that now it doesn’t need any introduction. India has able to grab every opportunity that has been thrown towards them, and has entered the list of top 10 countries that tweeted the most about games. But cricket is the only thing that lacks in the Esports world.
With time the interest of many Indian youngsters in gaming had changed in the past few years. There are almost 300 million gamers in India, and about 17 million users are already introduced to competitive gaming known as Esports. Out of $900 million revenue worldwide, India was responsible for around $94 Million in 2020.
Indians are obsessed with the games of cricket. In a country with a population of 1.4 billion people, half a billion people watch the sport of cricket on daily basis.

Cricket in India is Not just a game it’s an Emotion, but in the Esports world cricket hasn`t had any appearances in the past, but a Cricket tournament was conducted last year by the dafaNEWS Ecricket. Let`s discuss about that tournament in details:
Cricket as a sport has always been on the forefront in India, but not in the Esports world, there are not many Cricket games that are leading the table in E-sports world, but last year dafaNEWS Ecricket World Series was inaugurated, and played in September 2021. The tournament was scheduled in 2020 but got postponed due to the pandemic.
The event was played on E-sports Gaming League platform. The season 1 play-offs and finals were presented by the ECWS studio and were live streamed worldwide.
Chris Cockerell, Co-founder of Sports in Esports, said: “As fans of E-sports, it is vital cricket joins the gaming elite. We have created a competition that will break all barriers to online sports gaming. With over 900 million cricket fans, India will be our initial core audience.
“Once established, our focus will be on introducing Real Cricket Mobile to other cricketing nations. We will be working with cricket associations and clubs across the globe to bring them into the world of gaming and E-sports with a dual focus on skilled competition and education.”
E-sports Insider says: The dafaNEWS ECWS has managed to secure a range of partners for its inaugural season, which is always positive for a new E-sports event. It will be interesting to see how Ecricket grows as an E-sport and whether it will become a highly profitable market.
