Has the transition phase started for the Indian test team?

Indian test team

As soon as India lost the World Test Championship against Australia at The Oval in England earlier in June, all the talks of changing the Indian test team started. The fans and the cricket experts demanded a transition in the team where the old and veteran players were dropped and young rising stars who had performed well in domestic cricket were given a chance.

It seems that the BCCI and the selectors have heard all the outside noises and realised that it is high time that new players should be bought into the test team and groomed under some experienced players before passing on the baton completely to the younger generation.

The Team India selectors have taken some bold steps and have dropped the very dependable batter, Cheteshwar Pujara, and the veteran fast bowler, Umesh Yadav, from the test squad. Many young players have been rewarded with a place in the squad for their excellent performances in domestic cricket in place of these two legendary players.

Cheteshwar Pujara, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been included in the test team, and one of these two batters will surely make their debut in the series against the West Indies in July. Mukesh Kumar has been brought into the team to replace Umesh Yadav, and he is also likely to get his India cap on the tour next month.

It is going to be a great chance for all these youngsters to showcase their talent and cement their place in the team for the future, as India has abundant cricketing talent, but these players seem to be ahead in the pecking order right now. They must do justice to their spot on the team and play without any pressure.

It is going to be a very important tour for these young players and Team India, as this is the beginning of a new era for the Indian test team.
