Former Indian Batsman and CSK stalwart Suresh Raina met with Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju and said that he had a fruitful conversation with the Minister. Raina said that It feels special to see that India is progressing on all types of Sports in past few years.
He tweeted about his meeting on his Official Twitter Handle where he wrote “It was wonderful meeting you @KirenRijiju Sir. We had a great conversation on sports, and wonderful to know the progress our country in making in all sports verticals. Also loved his cricketing journey too 🙂 #kheloindia”

Few days before Raina met Nitishwar Kumar, Principal Secretary to Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, to discuss
the initiative to set up Sports academies for aspiring cricketers from the Union Territory.
Raina also attended the inauguration ceremony of Jammu Kashmir Police women’s Cricket Tournament at Anantnag where he said that ” There is a huge scope in the Union Territory to promote cricket here and it is only possible after building more cricket academies in Kashmir”. As per the media reports, Raina will be setting up 10 schools, Five each in Kashmir and Jammu divisions,to give professional training to aspiring cricketers. Raina retired from International cricket on 15th August 2020. CSK suffered a huge blow in the ongoing edition of IPL 2020 when Raina made himself unavailable for the season due to personal reasons. His absence in the ongoing edition of IPL 2020 has affected Yellow army immensely as for the first time in all 13th edition CSK will not qualify for the playoffs.
