Grace Harris Biography : Grace Harris is an Australian cricketer who is a right-handed all rounder. The 29-year-old player hails from Ipswich, Queensland and is a consistent player across all formats since her debut. She has featured for the sides like Australia Women, Brisbane Heats Women, Western Suburbs District Cricket Club, Melbourne Renegades, Sapphires Women and Queensland Fire. In March 2023, Grace Harris will make her debut for UP Warriorz in Women’s Premier League.

 

Early Life & Journey

Grace Harris was born and brought up in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. The player was born on 18th September 1993. Grace Harris has a sibling, Laura Harris, who is also an international cricketer.

Grace Harris had always an inclination towards the sport. The all-rounder featured for her school team in her earlier days and caught the attention of Queensland Under-15s Women. After featuring for that team, her stocks went up.

In June 2015, Grace Harris was named in the Australian Women national team as a replacement for Delissa Kimmince in the T20 international squad. Delissa Kimmince was unable to recover from a lower back issue. This made Grace Harris to slot in for Delissa against Ireland.

With her superior domestic performances, she received huge attention ahead of the Women’s Big Bash League first edition.

Ever since her first game in Big Bash League, the player has never turned her back. In 102 Women’s Big Bash League games, the 29-year-old has scored 2076 runs at a strike rate of 123.79 and an average of 23.07. The player also holds a distinct record of two centuries in the Women’s Big Bash League. Grace Harris also has 63 wickets at an economy of 6.77 in the Women’s Big Bash League. She also had a strike rate of 19.86 in the tournament.

Grace Harris made her national team debut against Ireland Women in Dublin in August, 2015. In her first game, Grace Harris could not score any runs as she was dismissed for a nought as she got stumped while attempting to improve the run rate. However, her right arm off spin helped to disturb Ireland’s chase. In her three overs, Grace Harris went on to pick two wickets while conceding just 15 runs.  Cecelia Joyce was her first wicket in the T20 international.

 

Since her debut, Grace Harris has featured in 30 T20 internationals for Australia and has amassed 313 runs from just 18 games. Her best score is 64 runs and possesses an average of 24.07 at a strike rate of 174.86. The player has a half century to her name in the shortest format of the game.

In T20I, Grace Harris’ bowling has not made a big noise but still has nine wickets from 12 innings. The bowler’s best bowling figures stand at seven runs for two wickets. Harris has a strike rate of 119.3 and an economy of 5.51.

 

After her debut in the shortest format of the game, the One-Day international debut was not far. The player made her debut in the One-Day international format against India Women at Canberra in February, 2016. On her debut, the player again failed with a bat as she got dismissed for just two runs from five deliveries. However, the player could pick the wicket in her three overs. The player had just conceded 13 runs in the due process. She picked the wicket of Sneh Rana on her debut.

 

Since her One-Day international debut, she has featured in nine One-Day international games across all competitions. In six innings, she has just seven runs at a strike rate of 57.7.
