The 16th season of the Indian Premier League is ready to begin. All of the teams are looking forward to their first match. On March 31, the first match of the IPL 2022 will be contested between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans. Both squads are thrilled to play their first game. Before this season, 15 seasons of the IPL had been played. Every season, one team wins out of a total of eight or ten teams. At the same time, the Indian Premier League has provided opportunities for numerous International players, who have captained their respective teams in the IPL.

Following are the three overseas captain who won IPL trophy:

  1. Shane Warne, Rajasthan Royals 2008

IPL began in the year 2008. This year saw the start of the IPL’s maiden season. Shane Warne, an Australian spin bowler, captained the Rajasthan Royals this season. Under his captaincy, this Aussie veteran had won everyone’s heart. The Rajasthan Royals club did not have many famous names, but Warne used his insight and superior usage of players to lead the side to victory. Following that, the Rajasthan Royals never won another IPL title. Although, Shane Warne has bid his goodbye to this planet.

  1. Adam Gilchrist, Deccan Chargers 2009

In the second season of the IPL, held in 2009, a new team won the title. Deccan Charges was the name of this team. Yet, given the name of this team, you may be confused as to which city it used to represent in the IPL. Let us remind you that this team once represented Hyderabad. Adam Gilchrist, the captain of this team, led the Deccan Chargers to a championship title in 2009. At that time, the squad included legends such as Rohit Sharma, Herschelle Gibbs, Andrew Symonds, Pragyan Ojha, and RP Singh.

  1. David Warner, Sunrisers Hyderabad 2016

David Warner became the third overseas and Australian captain to win the IPL Trophy after Warne and Gilchrist. In the ninth season of the IPL, in 2016, Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner led the club to victory. He is, however, no longer a member of this team. In the 2021 season, David Warner was relieved of his captaincy.
