Match number 6 of FIH Men’s Hockey World cup 2023 saw Netherlands put past 4 goals against Malaysia. The Dutch were expected to pick up the win and so they did. Lets know what happened on all 4 Quarters.

Quarter 1

Netherlands started the game and were constantly rushing towards the Malaysian goal. The Dutch were pressing high and forcing Malaysia to lose the ball. The Europeans had the first real chance of scoring a goal but Janssen failed to place the ball inside the goal.

The Dutch kept on pressing high alongside brilliant positioning but failed to capitalize by scoring a goal. However, minutes later Netherlands won the first Penalty corner of the match but Malaysia’s resilient defense kept them at bay. The first 15 minutes ended goalless.

Quarter 2

Malaysia had the first real chance in the second quarter but their in-experience in the forward lines were evident as they blew the opportunity. Their miss proved to costly after Netherlands turned their defense into attack to score the opening goal of the match in the 20th minute.

Minutes later, Netherlands doubled their lead this time through a Penalty kick. Jonas De Geus became a recipient of a harsh tackle by the Malaysian defense inside the box. Jip Jansen stood up to take the penalty and made it 2-0 before the second quarter ended.

Quarter 3

Malaysia looked the better in most of the minutes in the 3rd quarter. They received 2 back-to-back Penalty corners but failed to convert both and Netherlands maintained their lead by 2-0.

Quarter 4

The final quarter of the match saw Netherlands made things even worse for Malaysia as Teun Beins made it 3-0 through a Penalty corner. The Dutch were relentlessly penetrating the Malaysian circle and they got the reward once again through another PC.

This time Jorrit Croon took the charge and scored the 4th and final goal of the match. Malaysia lose the match by 4-0.
