Farokh Engineer reveals Indian selectors were serving tea to Anushka Sharma

Farookh Engineer often hailed as an original poster boy of Indian cricket was the actual swashbuckler, who paved the way for the future openers like Kris Srikanth, Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag.

His hawkeye and tiger agility behind the stumps during the late 60’s and mid 70’s was a boon for nightmare spinners like Bishan Singh Bedi, Erapalli Prasanna, Bhagwat Chandrasekar and Srinivas Venkataraghavan.

Although, the Brylcreem boy possesses an outspoken personality never shying to speak his heart out. On numerous occasions, he has been on the fire line, but the dasher was never known to toe the common line.

He has now lashed out at the BCCI selection committee led by MSK Prasad and challenged their credibility.

Farookh Engineer describes committee as Mickey Mouse committee

Farookh Engineer recently blasted at the Indian selectors during an interview with Times of India. He revealed that the Indian selectors were busy serving tea to Anushka Sharma. He even compared the selection committee to Micky Mouse committee.

During the interview, he also recalled a last year incident, when he saw an unknown wearing Indian blazer and later known that he was one of the selectors.

“We have got a Mickey Mouse selection committee. Virat Kohli has a major impact (in the process) which is very good. But how are the selectors qualified? Between them, have they played about 10-12 Test matches. I didn’t even know one of the selectors during the World Cup and I asked him ‘who the hell he was’ because he was wearing the India blazer and he said he was one of the selectors. All they were doing was getting Anushka Sharma (Kohli’s wife) cups of tea. I feel people with the stature of Dilip Vengsarkar should be in the selection committee,” he said.

Although he gave a big thumbs up to BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and hoped that he would take brilliant decisions during his stint as President.
