UEFA Champions League is considered as the toughest and the best club competition in the world. Over the years we have seen extra-ordinary team as well as individual performances and since 2006, a Brazilian International has been a part of UCL winning teams.
We were also shocked just as you. Up until now we talked about the presence of Croatians in UCL winning teams. Since 2013, each of the winning team had at least 1 Croat in the starting 11 with Bayern Munich’s Mario Mandzukic starting the trend.

During the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League final, 3-time winners Inter Milan had a Croatian in the form of midfielder Marcelo Brozovic. This was Inter’s 1st UCL Final appearance since winning the tournament in 2010 and they were being favored to land their 4th title.

However, Pep Guardiola’s relentless Manchester City team ended that particular trend with a 1-0 victory at the iconic Ataturk Olympic Stadium at Istanbul. Rodri’s 68th minute Worldie handed the Manchester based outfit their first ever UEFA Champions League triumph.
With that win, City did not just end the Croatian trend but they also kept the Brazilian trend alive. Since 2006 to be precise, every UCL winning team has had a Brazil born player in it.
