CSK’s Ruturaj Gaikwad to stay in quarantine, unlike to play IPL opener against MI

Ruturaj Gaikwad

Chennai Super Kings’s batsman, Ruturaj Gaikwad, who tested positive for COVID is not likely to play the IPL opener against MI. The batsman hasn’t tested negative yet and would ungergo a couple of more tests later.

Ruturaj has still not been cleared by the BCCI medical team and is in isolation. He is unlikely to be available for the first match. We are expecting him back in the (bubble) in the next couple of days and he is doing absolutely fine,” Viswanathan told PTI.

After staying quarantine for 13-14 days, Ruturaj is yet to test negative. The CSK batsman hasn’t been allowed to come out of his hotel room. The management was hoping that after spending another week in isolation, the report would come out negative. However, his latest test report came as a shocker to many.

The good thing, though, is that Ruturaj has been asymptomatic right from the beginning. The Indian cricketer was initially looked as a replacement for Suresh Raina, but with the current circumstances, the management has to look out for other options.

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings have been practising hard in the nets to prepare for the upcoming IPL. Dhoni and Co. are slated to play the first match of IPL 2020 against Mumbai Indians on 19th September 2020.

Senior players, Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh have already pulled out of the tournament. Though, the franchise hasn’t yet announced any replacement for either of them. It has been also been understood that Suresh Raina might make a comeback in the tournament.
