CSK head coach Stephen Fleming confirms Ben Stokes will be out for another week! Dhoni out of Knee injury

Chennai Super Kings are steadily strengthening their side in IPL this year as they aim to enter another play-off spot and further equal Mumbai Indians’ tally of 5 IPL titles. MS Dhoni’s side will have redemption on their mind after a terrible performance last season.

CSK had finished 9th in the 2022 season for the first time in their history and winning the tournament this year must be their only objective. Last night CSK overcame Sunrisers Hyderabad at Chepauk by 7 wickets while chasing a total of 135 runs.

Their bowling line-up ran the show and ran through SRH’s batting attack. Ravindra Jadeja, Matheesha Patheerana and Theekshana bowled really well and later on, Devon Conway played a match winning knock of 77 runs and he was in the pitch until the winning run was scored.

Meanwhile an important player for CSK, England’s red ball captain Ben Stokes who was bought by the 4-time IPL winners for a whopping 16.25 crores. The All-rounder has remained on the sidelines due to an injury issue and has featured only twice this season.

Head Coach Stephen Fleming while speaking in a press-conference, clarified that Stokes will be out of action for at least another week. He mentioned that his absence is a little unfortunate but the injury is not that serious. “Stokes, just a setback, I’m not going to go into it, but it’s not major. It’s just that he is close. He’s working really hard to get right, can’t fault that at all.

In the end Fleming said that all Ben Stokes needs is just a little bit of luck. So he just needs a little bit of luck,” he added. There was also a wave of rumor that MS Dhoni has also suffered a knee injury but Flemings shrugged off all the talk.

The Kiwi said Dhoni is not under any scrutiny and he has been managing his injury very well. Even if Dhoni felt uncomfortable, he would have sat out himself without any of us asking.
