Portuguese legend Cristiana Ronaldo`s statue has been build in Calangute, Goa to inspire the youth to take football as their career and to take the game to another level in the State and the Country as well. This is the first statue of any international footballer that has been installed in India.
The weight of the statue is around 410 kg`s and the main reason behind installing it in India is to motivate younger generation towards the sports. The Manchester United player is immensely popular in the country, the statue costs around 12,000 Pounds which is around 12,03,400 INR.
After the inauguration of the CR7 state, Micheal Lobo-MLA of Goa tweeted: For the love of football and at the request of our youth we put up CR7 statue in the park to inspire our youngsters to take football to greater heights. It was an honour to inaugurate the beautification of open space, landscaping, garden with foundation and walkway.
Cristiano Ronaldo has more than 10 statues all around the world, and now one is installed in Goa, India and the inauguration of the statue was done by the MLA of Goa Micheal Lobo on 28 December 2021.
The craze of football is increasing in India due to introduction of ISL where private stakeholders are involved and many Bollywood celebrities co-owns different teams which is good but there is a lot that needs to be done to upscale the quality of Indian football.
